AwesomeSauce is a secret pin that is awarded by Sony Computer Entertainment to members of the community that exude excellence and defy expectations. While the exact volume of necessary awesomeness is difficult to quantify, there is no doubt that this pin is the rarest of rare prizes in LittleBigPlanet 2, having been awarded to only twelve people to date.

History

Community Curator's Challenge

Two AwesomeSauce pins were awarded as prizes in the Move Madness contest at LittleBigWorkshop. The first was given to ScorpSkull on 22 November 2011 for an exceptional level employing the tools introduced in the Move Pack. The second was issued to Natuhito on 3 December 2011 for an impressive image created with the Paint tool.

LittleSigPlanet

It was announced on 9 April 2012 that AwesomeSauce pins would be given to the creators of LittleSigPlanet: bagheadinc, bludhound, and Tyler_stewart. Their website generates lovely banners with which users may fashionably promote levels on community fora.

Pocket Moon Podcast

It was revealed on 26 June 12 that AwesomeSauce pins had been awarded to the hosts of the Pocket Moon Podcast, John Holtkamp (a.k.a. amazingflyingpoo) and Tom Ross (a.k.a. Taffey/tsr13). The show is noted for its prominent guests and detailed discussions of community events.

LBP Hub

LBP Hub, an iPhone app which accesses and improves upon LBP.me, was released on 31 August 2012. Community Coordinator Steven Isbell subsequently tweeted that the app's developer, John Holtkamp (a.k.a. amazingflyingpoo), was the first person to be "more awesome than Awesomesauce... Looks like we need a new Pin". This implies that he would have been awarded the AwesomeSauce pin for LBP Hub if he had not already received it by means of the Pocket Moon Podcast. Instead he been given opportunity to choose who will get the pin, he choose ShadowriverUB was rewarded for sparking the idea, as well as creation of LittleBigAudio and his LBPWiki contribution.

Surge Lite

The 18 February 2013 edition of Sack it to Me announced that a Rare Prize Crown and AwesomeSauce pin had been awarded to community member evret for creating a LittleBigPlanet PS Vita version of the mobile game Surge. This so impressed the game's creators at FuturLab that they called for such honours to be granted to him!

Seasonal Spirit

Sack it to Me revealed on 08 April 2013 that AwesomeSauce pins and Rare Prize Crowns were granted to happy gadders bigsurf77, chaosgear, and Tropical_Guner for consistently marking real world holidays with appropriately festive levels. Sackfolk seeking calendar-appropriate revelry need look no further than these cheerful chums!
